In 1973, Sonny opened his first night club ‘El Alambique’ in front of the sea in Isla Verde. Eventually, this beach area caught on the name and now is known as ‘La Playa del Alambique’ or ‘El Alambique’ beach. Since he was part of the artistic scene, Sonny received wide press and TV coverage referring to the great success of ‘El Alambique.’
Later, he opened ‘El Inodoro’ in Santurce. This night club’s innovative design and bold name broke the mold of the traditional nightlife.
Sonny’s following project ‘El Boquete’ was located right next to Hotel San Juan, in Isla Verde. This futuristic design nightclub became the ‘it’ place for its rotating and transparent dance floors. People on the first floor could literally see others dancing in the top floor as if they were in the air. Additionally, food and beverages went up and down from one level to the other in transparent and open dumbwaiters, and people slipped from the second floor down to the first floor using slides.
Aside from his Landscaping business, Sonny developed other enterprises like Pizza Nostra, El Mercadito, Fun Banana – in Palmas del Mar – and Touché Boutique, in Hato Rey.
